Leff

Gerhardt Leff was born in 1818 in Germany and died on October 1, 1902 in San Luis Obispo, CA.

According to the 1870 federal census Mr. Leff was a resident in Arroyo Grande with his wife Mary and their children William (age 16) and Theresa (age 14).

According to the land patent that was filed on his behalf on June 10, 1870 it appears that he owned a section of land at the South West quarter of Section One in Township Thirty One South of Range Twelve East of Mount Diablo Meridian containing One Hundred and Sixty acres.

It also appears that at at one time Gerhardt Leff was appointed Judge by the Board of Supervisors, and was seeking the office of Marshall, as described in this article.

He is buried in the San Luis Obispo cemetery located on South Higuera Street.
